MT-STB HVLA: Advanced Manual Therapy

Comprehensive professional training for practitioners seeking high-level clinical expertise: systematic assessment, differential diagnosis, precise intervention selection, and the safe execution of advanced manual techniques—including HVLA manipulations, STB soft tissue integration, and biomechanical clinical reasoning.

Who is This Course For?

The program is designed for certified healthcare and manual therapy professionals who seek to deepen and expand their clinical capabilities:

  • Medical Massage & Manual Therapists with a solid professional foundation.
  • Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, and Movement Rehabilitation specialists.
  • Practitioners specializing in musculoskeletal pain, repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries, and range-of-motion restrictions.
  • Those seeking a structured clinical system rather than just a "collection of techniques."

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform a Structured Clinical Assessment: Conduct a full clinical intake, observation, movement testing, manual examinations, and retesting protocols.
  • Identify Movement Patterns & Compensations: Recognize dysfunctional patterns and understand the underlying biomechanical logic.
  • Clinical Decision-Making: Select interventions based on differential diagnosis rather than habit or "intuition."
  • Advanced Manual Mastery: Execute advanced manual techniques (including HVLA) in a progressive, safe, and controlled manner.
  • Integrated STB Method: Seamlessly incorporate STB soft tissue protocols into a comprehensive treatment plan, rather than as an isolated action.
  • Design Continuum of Care: Build holistic treatment plans that combine manual therapy, rehabilitative movement/exercise, and patient home-care instructions.

What Sets Manual IL Apart?

The Integration of Four Essential Components Clinical Reasoning:

  1. Identifying the root cause and developing a therapeutic hypothesis.
  2. Biomechanics & Movement Patterns: Understanding how loads and compensations create symptoms.
  3. STB (Soft Tissue Balance): Precise soft tissue work for preparation, regulation, and sensory-motor change.
  4. HVLA & Mobilizations: Controlled joint intervention within a strict safety framework.

Hands-on Training with Professional Standards Guided Practice:

  • Real-time feedback and precision in execution.
  • Risk Management: Clinical indications, contraindications, dosage, and professional boundaries.
  • Intimate Groups: Limited to 20 participants to ensure the highest quality of instruction.

Course Structure

34 Sessions (5 hours per session) Core Focus: Clinical application and continuous practice. Practical Training: 70%–80% of every session is dedicated to hands-on practice.

Module 1 – Clinical Foundations & Safety

The Clinical Assessment Process: What to ask, what to examine, and how to reach conclusions.

Safety Principles: "Red/Yellow Flags," risk management, and clinical referral protocols.

Therapeutic Dosage: Patient communication and professional boundaries.

Module 2 – Biomechanics, Compensations & Movement Patterns

Kinetic Chains: Understanding loads, stresses, and adaptations.

Identifying Symptom Sources: Utilizing clinical logic and retesting protocols.

From Assessment to Action: Building a targeted treatment plan.

Module 3 – STB: Precise Soft Tissue Work

The STB Method: Core principles, touch, dosage, and clinical integration.

Clinical Adaptations: Tailoring treatments for chronic pain, repetitive strain, rehabilitation, and athletes.

Module 4 – Mobilizations & HVLA Manipulations (Safe & Progressive)

Indications & Contraindications: Knowing when and when not to intervene.

Technical Execution: Positioning, ergonomics, and controlled thrusts.

Outcome Verification: Using retests to ensure genuine clinical impact.

Module 5 – Clinical Integration & Case Studies

The Full Session: Integrating all course components into a complete treatment process.

Strategic Planning: Initial intake, building a treatment sequence, and success metrics.

Case Studies: Analysis of common mistakes and corrective clinical reasoning.

Instructional Team

Eyal Feigin

Expert in Manual Therapy and Pain Management, with clinical experience treating thousands of patients and over 20,000 teaching hours. A renowned lecturer and instructor for therapists globally, leading advanced courses in HVLA, STB, Biomechanics, and Clinical Reasoning. Specializes in diagnosing movement patterns, physical compensations, and science-based pain mechanisms.

Givon Peled

Founder of the STB (Soft Tissue Balance) Method, specialist in Pain Management, Movement Patterns, and Posture. With clinical experience treating tens of thousands of patients and over 20 years of field experience. Former Chairman of the Israel Massage Practitioners Association. Developer of science-based clinical protocols for functional improvement, soft tissue rehabilitation, and pain reduction.

What is HVLA (Manipulation)?

HVLA = High Velocity, Low Amplitude – A short, rapid, and precise thrust applied to a joint to release restrictions and restore motion.

  • You will master manipulations and mobilizations for the spine and extremities, with a core emphasis on safety, body mechanics, and precision.
  • When to use? Mechanical pain, restricted range of motion, and joint stiffness.
  • Why it works? It triggers a rapid neuro-mechanical change ↔ improving mobility and the pain experience. How we learn? Through structured protocols, pre/post testing, and progressive, safe practice.

What is STB – Soft Tissue Balance?

STB is a comprehensive approach to soft tissue balancing (Founded by Gevaon Peled), grounded in fascial science and movement patterns.

  • The method prepares the tissue for manipulation/mobilization or serves as a gentle treatment alternative when high-velocity techniques are not indicated.
  • What is it in practice? Preparatory protocols, fascial release, trigger point therapy, and range-of-motion maintenance.
  • Why is it essential? Prepared tissue = less resistance and superior, long-lasting clinical results. Therapeutic Advantage: Highly effective for sensitive patients or in clinical cases where HVLA is not appropriate.

What is Clinical Biomechanics?

Understanding Movement and Loads: Identifying where compensations occur and uncovering the root cause of the problem.

  • You will master functional diagnosis and movement analysis to select the right technique at the right time—achieving lasting clinical change.
  • Assessment: Rapid testing protocols, Red Flags, and clinical decision-making hierarchy. Movement: Identifying postural patterns and compensatory mechanisms.
  • Integration: Biomechanics → STB → HVLA/Mobilizations.
